Statement of Faith

Calvary Chapel of Joshua's Valley has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ, under His direction. 

Our Supreme desire is to know Jesus with all our heart and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such. only their over emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ.

WE BELIEVE that the only true basis of Christian Fellowship is His (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

WE BELIEVE Therefore: Worship of God should be Spiritual. We remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

WE BELIEVE Therefore: Worship of God should be inspirational. We give a great place to music in our worship.

WE BELIEVE Therefore: Worship of God should be intelligent. Our Services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching the Word of God that He might instruct us how He would be worshiped.

WE BELIEVE Therefore: Worship of God is fruitful. We look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.

WE BELIEVE the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the infallible Word of God.

WE BELIEVE in the Trinity, One God, Creator of all things existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE all men and women are sinners under a sentence of condemnation as a result of the transgression in the garden.

WE BELIEVE in salvation for all sinners Jew & Gentile who repent of their sins and confess with their mouths the Lord Jesus and believe in their hearts in His resurrection.

WE BELIEVE in the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in every believer.

WE BELIEVE that God is NOT done with Israel.

WE BELIEVE all Christians are regenerated and sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE the baptism of the Holy Spirit continues to be for all believers today. Also that the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are covered in the Word of God, must be exercised within the guidelines of scripture.  We believe they are valid for today. We all should desire the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love for the edification of the Body of Christ. We believe that love is more excellent than all gifts, and that the exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless without  love. 

WE BELIEVE the dead and the living in Christ shall be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ (Yeshua Messiah) will return to earth and establish His Kingdom.

THEREFORE WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, eternal blessings for believers and eternal sufferings for unbelievers.

WE BELIEVE that the church is comprised of both Jews and Gentiles who have accepted Jesus as Messiah. Gentiles who have come to faith in Messiah Jesus are fellow heirs with Jewish believers of the promises of God. We believe in the establishment of the local assembly of believers where both Jews and Gentiles are encouraged to live together in unity while expressing their respective cultural distinctives.

 WE DON"T BELIEVE:

  1. The teaching of "positive confession".
  2. The belief that true-Christians can be possessed by demons.
  3. "Dominion theology" or "kingdom theology".
  4. A fatalistic Calvinistic view, which allows no room for free will.
  5. Prophesy that supersedes biblical scripture.
  6. "Charismania" (the over-emphasis upon spiritual gifts, experiential signs and wonders, etc.).
